Band 6  Occupational Therapist Neuro rotation

37.5 hrs/week

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy Neuro Rehab rotation, within the wider Integrated Neuro therapy services at Croydon Healthcare services NHS Trust. The rotations are:

  • Stroke unit /Croydon Acute Neuro in patient Service
  • Community Stroke Rehab Team
  • Community Neuro Rehab Team

The successful candidate will be supervised and supported by an experienced Band 7 OT in each rotation and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in neurorehabilitation. Main duties of the job

Croydon provides a unique experience to work as  part of an Integrated care organisation. The Integrated Neuro Therapy  Service provides high quality rehabilitation for patients across the whole pathway and we are constantly looking to see how we can improve the patient experience.

The post holder will work as a member of the Integrated Neurology team.

The post holder will provide a range of specialized rehabilitation OT input, to patients with neurological conditions, enabling them to achieve their full potential. The post holder is an autonomous practitioner but will work under the supervision of a Band 7 Occupational therapist.

The post holder will be expected to work in a variety of settings including Broad Green Centre, the patient’s own home, other community settings and Croydon University Hospital, as required.

• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital
• The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
• A minor injuries unit in New Addington

Person specification


Essential criteria
  • BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registered


Essential criteria
  • Experienced postgraduate, incorporating experience in a variety of relevant core specialities, including neuro rehab
  • Experience working as an OT in NHS with adults
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Band 6 OT experience.
  • Experience working as an OT in the Community with adults


Essential criteria
  • Awareness of clinical guidelines standards in Neurological rehabilitation

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates a commitment and motivation to work with people with Neurological conditions
  • Identifies what attracts them to this specific post at Croydon Health services Trust
Desirable criteria
  • Full driving license with vehicle for work
